The debut studio record by Alvin Lee's famous blues rock group Ten Years After. I love blues and blues rock music a lot and Ten Years after is one of the most important bands especially in the blues rock history. I've listened to this record for the first time many years ago but I haven't rated it until now (the reviewer gave it  four and a half stars out of five -- op. ed.)

Nine songs in here from which four are cover versions and five are Lee's material. "I Can't Keep from Crying, Sometimes", "Spoonful" and "Help Me" are just unbelievable covers. Especially "Help Me" is a total killer. Alvin Lee's own material is very effective too. This record includes slow blues numbers and faster blues rockers. And also a bit of psychedelic rock sound which I like.

This record is a great blues rock package from the start to the finish. A must-have for every true blues rock fan out there. What a fantastic start by Alvin Lee and his band.

·                          THE RECORD

 (IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)         WE GRADE THE VINYL  AS  (WEAK) NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)         The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.

(c)         The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)         Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·                          THE COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-       Tiny yellowish water stain noted in one bottom corner (less than ¼ square inch in size)  (VISIBLE ON BACK SIDE ONLY)

-       Visible shelf wear noted on the top and bottom seams

-       Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on back side, apparently from aging.

-       Minor pressure mark noted on the front side, from the previously written price code on the shrink wrap (has to be viewed under certain angle to notice)

-       Cover has three corners slightly worn / dinged (nothing significant)
