Ten Years After

'Rock & Roll Music To The World'

Chrysalis, UK, 1970

CHR 1009

A VERITABLE rock 'n roll machine, Ten Years After had toured the world many time over, played Woodstock and delivered a string of big selling albums. By the time they made this one, the band had stepped of the gas pedal somewhat, escrewing frantic 12 bar blues for a more measured collection of tracks focussing on songs rather than speed.

As a result the music here is equally as impressive as anything they had previously recorded but sounds infinitely more polished and refined. Lee's barage of lightning fast fret work is tempered by an investment in chunky riffs, melodic hooks and great musical support from the rest of the band including some killer keyboard tinkling from the absurdly named Chick Churchill.

Best track? That might be a toss up between 'Standing At The Station', 'You Can't Win Them All' and 'Choo Choo Mama'.

This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.
