Super Rare Rod Stewart Storyteller 7 LP Box Set, Very Sweet!!
Wow, here's an outstanding treat from my personal collection. I've simply run out of room and am selling off some of the LPs I just haven't listened to for a while, or have duplicates in vinyl or other formats.
This is the ultra rare, German pressed, 7 LP record box set by Rod Stewart, "Storyteller, The Complete Anthology 1964 -1990" on Warner Brothers, catalogue # 925987-1 pressed in Alsdorf, Germany.
It includes all 7 LPs, complete with original high grade lined inserts and a wonderful full sized booklet ful of pictures, stories and commentary on each track. It's a really nice set, and looks to have seen little play or handling. It's been sitting on my rack for several years w/o being played, pretty much because I have so much of the original releases.
The LPs look great; they could probably pass for new. I hate rating records because there is such a subjective disparity on evaluations, but I'd rate this LP as follows:
Vinyl: M-/NM, nice, and shiny with very few visible scratches or scuffs. I didn't see any, but I may have missed some. Basically, these LPs look to be new and unplayed, but I'll grade them down to be safe
Jacket: VG++, a bit of edgewear on the box , some light abrasions, and a largish scuff on the back, but still a very nice carton overall. (see pics).
If you love fine recordings, analog vinyl, and Rod Stewart in particular, you need to give this set your full consideration. The CDs are quite common, but the 7 LP sets are extremely rare and one in this nice shape is very, very hard to find.
Don't let it get away!!
These are the guidelines I grade with.
Assume grading to be "visual" unless noted.
Grades for vinyl :
M : new, un-played, perfect.
M-/NM : like new but carefully played a limited amount of times. Should play perfect with almost no noise or imperfections. May show very faint imperfections from paper scuffs or tiny needle marks.
EX : as above with a few light needle marks, or a few light surface scratches, and/or inaudible or barely audible scuffs. a very nice used record
VG+ : no groove wear, but some visible scuffs and surface scratches. Should still play with nice fidelity, but will have an occasional pop, tick, and light surface noise, surface noise between tracks. A normal used record.
VG : still showing good gloss but lots of small scratches and scuffs. A slightly abused record that should still play through without skips, but will have light surface noise throughout, pops, ticks, and maybe some light distortion around the edges. I do not consider VG to be a junk grade
VG- to G : any record in less than VG condition that I feel is still worth offering
Grades for jackets:
M : perfect. no wear, square flat corners, solid seams, spine etc.
M-/NM : overall appearance of front and back near perfect but may have a very small problem or faint age wear that I will explain.
EX : as above, nice "un-handled" feel, but may have a small split, a bent corner or two, very light ring wear, small writing. Or a M- jacket with a drill hole, saw-cut, or promo stamp.
VG+ : still have a nice overall appearance, but may have the following defects: seam splits, spine splits, small tears, ring wear, writing, small stains, etc. in various (not severe) degrees.
VG : defects as above in a greater degree, and possibly a "handled", or "worn" feel to the paper. possible neat tape repairs. will still look good when in a poly-bag.
G or G+ : getting ugly, but for some reason still worth offering.
Important Note to International bidders!!!!
Insurance IS REQUIRED on ALL International shipmentsAs of 5/14/2007 the United States Postal Service has changed it's delivery options and has discontinued some popular services, most notable Economy (Surface) Parcel Post and replaced them with Priority Mail International. While there are some benefits to the new services, such as much faster delivery, the costs for shipping have increased dramatically. Please inquire as to what shipping may run before bidding as the costs have usually at least doubled over the previous rates.
High Bidder wins! No need to worry about hidden minimums here. If you bid on it and are high bidder, it's yours!!!
