Saturn Records 502, recorded late 1966. 2-LP set. Jacket is generic white cardboard with Xerox front and back pasted onto it. Black print on robin’s egg blue label—notably this is the El Saturn and nod Thoth Int. release. Disc play surface is unblemished, as though not played more than once. Blue label has “xx” written in small ballpoint on one side, maybe by the same person who wrote “1964 on the back panel. Apart from that and a 1979 date when the record was purchased (in ballpoint as well), jacket only shows minor wear. This is one of over 200 LPs being consigned on auction weekly between now and Spring 2007 from the well-kept and thorough collection of the late sculptor Bradford Graves, a key participant in the operations of New York performance space Soundscape. The collection ranges from Art Blakey to Han Bennink, with especially strong showings of Saturn, FMP, ICP, and US private pressings from the early Seventies. Some prizes and surprises in every batch.
