Description
This is a nice find. An extremely rare original Saturn pressing of “Horizon” by Sun Ra and his Arkestra, recorded live in Egypt in 1971. Cat# 1217718. Vinyl rates VG+ due to some minor bubbling on the label and a small scuff on one side that makes a lightly audible ticking for less than one minute (no skipping). Cover rates about the same; there is a corner bend in the upper left corner and a small blue spot on the back (maybe 1/8 inch in diameter), but the paste-on design has held up remarkably well. These records were pressed in extremely limited quantities (often only 75 copies!), so needless to say this is not an easy one to find. There is no way to know the size of the edition exactly, but it is definitely extremely rare! A nice find for any fan. Ballon Theatre, Cairo, 12/17/1971. One of the first Saturns with a Philadelphia serial number. Release date is unclear but should be 1974 or later.
