Description
Sugar Boy (Crawford) & His Cane Cutters-Checker 787
James "Sugar Boy" Crawford does "Jock-A-Mo" on Checker 787. This might well have been the original version of the New Orleans chant "Iko-Iko" and was written by Crawford. Sugar Boy sings and is on piano, Snooks Eaglin (who died just last week) is on guitar, Frank Fields bass, Big Boy Miles trombone, Alfred Bernard and David Lastie are both playing sax.
On the reverse side they do "You, You, You."
Recorded in New Orleans in 1953, this 78rpm record is in nice excellent to excellent-plus (E to E+) condition.
