redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This beautiful and now very rare LP from RCA Victor (LM-1010, US pressing, plum dog, mono – no stereo edition exists) features conductor Leopold Stokowski and His Symphony Orchestra in a magically evocative and sumptuous account of Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty Suite Op. 66a, warmly recorded in the spacious acoustics of Manhattan Center, New York, on 8 April 1953. “His” Symphony Orchestra consisted of moonlighting New York Phiharmonic players and many of the city’s finest studio musicians, among them trumpeter William Vacchiano, violist William Lincer, cellist Frank Miller, et al. – truly outstanding.

The lovely cover art carries the artist’s signature, but it is difficult to make out, possibly Stallhart(?). There are extensive liner notes (uncredited) on the reverse side of the jacket, printed in Englsih only.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is mild discoloration and wear along the edges, but really that is all. However, there are no seamsplits, owners' markings, or other defects and the jacket remains solid, bright, and very handsome in appearance – overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Although the surfaces are not absolutely silent, this is a fine copy and the playback is quite superb. Those requiring flawless or NM surfaces are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.
