Description

This is the extremely rare test pressing edition of first The Incredible Expanding Mindfuck album from Richard Allen's personal collection. Richard ran Delerium and signed Porcupine Tree in the early 1990s. Every Delerium LP issued had a special limited run of test pressings with custom made sleeves. The I.E.M. was issued in a run of six copies and each copy was enclosed in a white card sleeve with paste on artwork front and back. They were distributed to the band and the press. 
The album proper was only issued in an edition of 500 copies on a Delerium Sub label called Chromatic so is also a rare item. 
 The test pressing is date stamped 5th of December 1996. Also included is a sales/press sheet. 
 This is an important Steven Wilson/ Porcupine Tree Collectable. 
 THE INCREDIBLE EXPANDING MINDFUCK 
I.E.M. is seldom discussed in any depth by Steven Wilson in interviews and the album packaging provides very little information. The name "Incredible Expanding Mindfuck" is an in-joke referring to early Porcupine Tree promotional material (in which Porcupine Tree was given an entirely fictional 1970s history and in which the Incredible Expanding Mindfuck was mentioned as a related project). Wilson's work with I.E.M. is in part a continuation of the experimental Kraut Rock influenced sound of 'Signify' and the sales information with the test pressing of this first album makes great play of the fact that the music is influenced by Can, Neu! Amon Duul and Kraftwerk. 
This is probably the most psychedelic record Steven Wilson has recorded and is filled with excellent guitar work that will appeal to fans of Porcupine Trees early albums.
