Description

Standard Sound Effect records produced by Standard Radio Transcription Services, Inc. The company filed for incorporation in 1946 in California and has since dissolved. They produced many sound effect records in 78RPM for use by radio stations producing their own entertainment and commercials. I have a set of 5 records and the tracks and times are listed here:

These records are in Very Good Plus (VG+) condition and generally play very well. There are a few pops in some of the longer cuts, and moderate surface noise normally found on 78 RPM records, but they play through with no skips. Some needle marks demonstrate that they have been played. Many of the cuts are terminated, that is the needle will not continue to the next cut, and must be placed there manually. This was to prevent the sound effects producer from accidentally running into the next effect. These sounds are from post-WWII America and reflect a bygone time. These records are quite rare and hard to find. They come in the original green heavy paper sleeves they have occupied for the last 70 years.
