Description

Selected titles from the private collection of a music business veteran are now being made available for the first time. Titles offered by this Seller are one-owner and came directly from the pressing plant, record company warehouse, other label reps or record store unless otherwise noted. 

Grading is based on visual inspection.

Album ships in a 2 MIL poly cover sleeve and a soft poly inner sleeve.

I package records outside the cover to avoid seam splits.

New and vintage vinyl is hard to grade strictly using eBay’s system because the record and the cover are two different components. Therefore, I grade a record new and mint if it is opened but has never been played.  I use the eBay grading category to describe the cover condition.

"Getz/Gilberto" featuring Antonio Carlos Jobim is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest and certified best-selling jazz albums of all time. Includes the classic "The Girl From Ipanema" with vocals by Astrud Gilberto. This historic recording received Grammy Awards for Best Jazz Instrumental Album and Best Engineered Recording. It also became the first non-American album to win Album of the Year, in 1965.
  • This is a First Pressing of the Verve Records original 1964 release.
  • These are the original Mono recordings.
  • Features the classic "The Girl From Ipanema" with vocals by Astrud Gilberto. 
  • Recorded March 18 & 19, 1963 in New York City.
  • Produced by the late, great Creed Taylor (He only recently passed away in September 2022).
  • The engineer on this recording was a very young and unknown Phil Ramone (who won a Grammy for engineering these recording sessions).
  • Liner notes by Stan Getz, João Gilberto and Gene Lees.
  • This copy has never been played.
  • The gatefold cover has tight seams, a stiff spine and shows some shelf wear. There are 3 minor corner bumps.
  • Includes the original Verve catalog inner sleeve. I have added a soft poly inner sleeve.
  • This is a one-owner that the Seller got new in 1964. It has been in storage for 59 years.
