Sleeve E J Day printed first issue matt single album cover. General wear on edges/spine but no tears, nor rips . Light ring wear visible .No hand writing anywhere and a real treat to find a solid example of this ultra scarce release. Some sticker damage top right but a presentable exhibit . Most of the time, this pressing seldom rears its beautiful head and when it does, the sleeve has suffered defacement/tears and rips but this one is in very good condition.
Complete with the rare red lyrics inner sleeve with wide finger space on top edge where vinyl was pulled out for play. Again, seldom ever found with this ultra rare release and has suffered some seam splits but they are clean cuts .Minor tear on lower edge and faces are clean and lyrics are unfaded. Good+ condition.
Labels
Excellent/+ condition with a light spindle trace . Fingerprints only visible with no spindle wear. No mottling. No peeling. No graffiti .No crusting at all and fine examples of this folk rock label format. First issue B&C issue and confirm that the vinyl was lightly played.
Vinyl
Thick cut, heavy weight press . Several light surface marks, the odd light scratch but nothing major at all .The surfaces reflect a mirror like sheen and visually warrants a very good/ plus grading. No nasty blemishes and a pleasure to view.
Audio
Recorded at Morgan & Sound Techniques Studios, London May/June 1971 and the music, from this release, is exceptional. The intricate violin manoeuvres , guitar strings, and vocals, interspersed with keyboard/video tape effects, has produced one of the most sought after folk rock psyches of the seventies. Amazing tones which are delivered with a remarkable clarity and a definitive edge, which rise above any surface disturbance . There are some light scratches, some surface noise during the quieter parts of the music but does little to affect the music presentation. At least a very good, but considerably better in many parts. Plays really well with no jumps, nor skips nor repeats. No serious problems at all.
An impossible to find, ultra rare, rock folk psyche, not to be missed, as these first UK pressings are very difficult to track down, especially in this condition.
