This distinctive purple / green / yellow jacket art was the original album art for Badmotorfinger, quickly nixed by the band itself who've described the process publicly via their official Instagram & Facebook as follows ...
"Originally, Badmotorfinger was scheduled to be released on September 24th, the same day as Nirvana’s Nevermind. However, when the album jackets were printed, the band was super disappointed with the artwork. The pastel color selection resembled “sweet tarts” candy, chalk, or children’s chewable vitamins. The A&M president agreed and supported us by having the cover redone by their art dept. and overseen by Kim (Thayil). The initial print run was sent to markets where fewer heavy rock records were sold. The album’s release date was subsequently pushed back to October 8th".
This version of the jacket art also features a different press shot of the band on the jacket rear compared to the more common / ubiquitous versions of the LP.
Also accompanying this release is the original printed, double-sided lyrics insert.
Jacket is in outstanding condition, crisp and glossy with virtually no storage or ring wear, no edge wear and the slightest sign of corner wear with very minor superficial creasing in one corner.
The disc comes enclosed in the original plain, white, die-cut inner sleeve which displays some mild oxidative yellowing around its edges but is otherwise fully intact with no seam splits. The disc will be supplied in a clear poly sleeve along with the original paper sleeve.
Media is in outstanding condition with a handful of extremely fine hairlines only visible under very bright light while the disc displays subtle signs of some darker black marbling on this pressing.
Offered by original owner, purchased on release in 1991 and very carefully stored since.
