Description

Sonny Rollins ‎– Saxophone Colossus - UK 1st (1958) Esquire 32-045. Mono.

Vinyl condition: EX. Labels are in fantastic clean condition with just a light spindle mark on B side label. Vinyl is incredibly clean for a record from 1958, with just one very light superficial scratch and a few superficial hairlines to A-side and a couple of very small marks and hairlines to B-side - fantastic collectors copy!
Vinyl plays superb with clean sound and no distortion - this is a fantastic, natural sounding, original recording and pressing. There is a little bit of very light background noise just at the very start of A1, and very occasionally in spots/quiet passages, but overall it is an exceptional play. There is a single medium click (not excessive) during the last quarter of B2 and about 4 very light clicks as the track ends and fades out, but these are very minor and do not detract in any way from the overall play which is superb. I would give it a play grading of 8.5/10. Would be 9/10 if not for the few clicks. Truly a fantastic and really enjoyable play on this classic performance.
Sleeve condition: EX-. Fantastic looking sleeve for a record of this age. No spine splits. Title info clearly readable to spine. To front, crease marks to top and bottom left side of sleeve, and lightly to edges. Light ring mark and browning/spots to right edge of sleeve and a few spots to top centre. Laminate lifting spot to left side. Tiniest of corner wear.To rear, light ring wear , slight creasing and corner wear. Laminate lifting spot to top right edge and original dealer sticker to top centre. Overall, great sleeve.
