Sonic Boom: Spectrum LP (1990 U.K. Original Press)

Classic debut album purchased by me in the early 1990s and it has been looked after as part of my personal record collection ever since. It’s the original U.K. Silverstone records pressing, but the standard sleeve, not the limited edition gatefold edition.

The outer sleeve is in great condition, structurally sound and with no seam splits. The spine has some light storage rubbing and the tiny print is not all fully readable (see images). The original hype sticker is in place and for 30 years old it’s in very nice all round shape. It comes with the original printed inner sleeve that also has no splits, but some light ring wear. Please take some time to scroll through all of the pictures to get a clear idea of the condition of the LP and any of the above highlighted imperfections.

The vinyl is also in very nice clean condition with only some very minor surface marks visible when scrutinised under a very bright light. There is nothing feel-able and it plays through beautifully with absolutely no skipping, sticking or jumping. The dead wax is etched, ‘Porky Prime Cut’ which signifies it was cut by the legendary mastering engineer, George Peckham. I have just cleaned it in my professional vacuum record cleaning machine using the award winning L’Art du Son cleaning fluid so it’s now free from any dirt and static and in the best possible condition for the next owner to enjoy. I have just test played both sides all the way through on my Project Carbon deck fitted with an Ortofon 2M Blue stylus.

I noticed it does appear to be very slightly warped but nothing severe and quite acceptable, but I thought I’d mention it so buyer is fully aware. Possibly you could flatten this out if you pack it between your records or under heavy books, I wouldn’t be too concerned though. Both sides plays through beautifully with no sound issues but there is some minor vinyl crackle on some of the run ins with the odd bit of surface noise here and there between tracks and during quieter sections. This is the warm analogue crackle rather than those annoying and distracting loud clicks and pops… just enough to remind you you’re experiencing this great album on vinyl rather than Spotify!

I try to be as honest in my descriptions as possible and point absolutely every imperfection out so that the buyer gets no surprises and if you look at my 100% feedback you’ll see you can buy records from me with confidence. I will post to the buyer packaged properly so no damage will come to it in transit.
