Description

Solid VG+ mono first pressing of Donald Byrd’s great 1962 LP The Cat Walk, Blue Note BLP 4075. Excellent quintet session with Duke Pearson, Laymon Jackson, and Philly Joe Jones, though the star of the session (besides Byrd) is Pepper Adams, who is in spectacular form throughout.

This copy is the original mono pressing, which is indicated by the presence of Plastylite “Ear” and RVG stamp in the deadwax and the absence of deep groove labels (according to Fred Cohen’s book about Blue Note). Vinyl is above average weight as well.

Vinyl: VG+. Super clean and well maintained copy pressed on heavy vinyl. There are two small nonfeelable marks that have no effect on play, and the tiniest bit of background noise in quieter passages, but this is minimal and never overtakes RVG production which is strong and clear and vivid. There are no skips pops or clicks. See photos for details.

Cover: VG-. Front cover is clean and retains original laminate finish despite some minor wrinkling and color fading along spine. Back cover has significant foxing and dark spots although all text is legible. Spine is solid and intact but there is significant seam splitting along top edge and corners. See photos for details.

LP will come in protective Mobile Fidelity archive-quality sleeve. Cover will come in thick vinyl protective sleeve.

Packed expertly by professional shipping company and mailed via USPS, with tracking number provided, within a day of receipt of payment.
