Sod – Sod [Decca DL 75316] 1971 Gloversville Pressing, Rare 70s Rock LP VG+

A rare and overlooked gem from the early ’70s rock scene, Sod blends hard rock, funk, and soul-infused groovesinto an album that deserves rediscovery. Released in 1971 on Decca Records, this album features Larry Devers, Don Phillips, Michael Green, and a full lineup of multi-instrumentalists recorded “live” at Sunset Sound Recorders in Hollywood.

This MCA Pressing Plant, Gloversville edition features the third version of Decca’s “color band” labels and includes an original insert with a band photo. Tracks like Too Loose to Get Tight and La Brea Tar Pit Blues bring an unfiltered, raw energy, backed by an eclectic mix of blazing guitars, brass-heavy arrangements, and deep rhythm sections.
