Description

This magazine features an INTACT, NEVER PLAYED, ULTRA RARE Smashing Pumpkins “Daughter” Flexi Record. REFLEX Magazine issue #23 1992.

One of these recently sold on eBay for what I am asking, and the flexi was not even attached/bound in the magazine like this one is.

Please note: There is what appears to be a very fine line on the flexi, but since it is still bound in the magazine and to preserve the new/unplayed state of this record, I have not played (and will not play) the record to verify whether it has any effect on playback.

I have attempted to photograph it accurately, so please look closely at photos, as they are considered part of the description. Please contact me with any other questions you have prior to bidding/buying.

Issue also features Lush, Sandman, Neil Gaiman, Dave McKean, Ice Cube, Annie Sprinkle, Dancehall Reggae, record reviews, live show reviews, and more.

There are no cutouts or writing on any pages. The binding and pages are in great shape. Subscription labels present - one is totally intact and the other is partially removed. This magazine/flexi is very rare and highly sought-after and will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail within the US and shipped via the eBay International Shipping option to other parts of the world. Thank you, and be well!

From spcodex wiki:

“A longer version also recorded at Reel Time Studios was released on a 7" flexi disc to subscribers of the April 4, 1992 issue of Reflex magazine. The flexidisc is single-sided and contained only the one song. The song has never been widely released, as this magazine subscription single was pressed in very limited quantities. Since flexidiscs are notoriously unreliable and this one saw limited distribution, this is among the rarest Smashing Pumpkins releases.

The song is incorrectly credited solely to Billy Corgan on the flexidisc, however the Moon tape's liner notes state that it was actually written by both Corgan and D'arcy Wretzky.”

From Discogs:

“Daughter was issued only to Reflex Magazine subscribers in 1992.

Daughter is an extended version of a track from the 1989 Moon demo recorded at Reel Time Studios in Chicago, which the Smashing Pumpkins sold at their early shows in Chicago.

It is estimated that the magazine and flexi-disc are limited to around 1000 copies.

The song is incorrectly credited solely to Billy Corgan on the flexi-disc, however the Moon tape's liner notes state that it was actually written by both Corgan and D'arcy Wretzky.”

From eil:

“Promo Comes from 'USA'

SMASHING PUMPKINS Daughter (Very Rare 1992 one sided flexidisk which was originally issued in subscriber only copies of the April 4, 1992 issue of Reflex magazine. This was the first issue of Reflex to test the 'subscriber only' distribution method in the hopes of boosting lagging subscription sales which didn't work and the magazine folded less than 6 months later. Only a small number of these flexi's were produced making it one of the hardest Pumpkins items to find. A superb rarity that is one of the premier items in any collection)”
