Small Faces :The Autumn Stone - Canadian Pressing DAFFODIL SBA 16023Played from start to finish - no skips, no jumps.Ring wear, creases, fading.Four clean labels. Tics on several tracks but not overly distracting on sonics.VG(-)/VG/VGDAFFODIL RECORDS: a Canadian independent record label in the tradition of Island and Immediate records, was co-founded in Canada in 1971, by Frank Davies, who had previously been associated in the United Kingdom with Liberty Records and EMI Records. The label was owned by Love Productions Ltd. and had a sister label named Strawberry. Originally distributed by Capitol Records (Canada) Ltd. then later GRT Of Canada. During his time with EMI Records in London Davies meet the owners of the original Immediate label as EMI was the manufacturer/distributor of Immediate in later years. After setting up Daffodil and having success with Canadian blues boogie band Crowbar, Davies negotiated a deal with Andrew Loog Oldham and issued the "Immediate (UK) Series" starting in 1972 and concluding the year after. The distinctive series featured shiny metallic foil LP covers and included several that had never been released in North America including the first Immediate Small Faces LP (UK version) and Humble Pie's Town & Country LP. Humble Pie was having enormous success in North America as well as Emerson, Lake & Palmer (featuring Keith Emerson previously on Immediate as a member of The Nice). Large quantities of Daffodil's Immediate UK Series (especially Humble Pie and The Nice LPs) were exported to the USA and other countries to fill the demand of Humble Pie and ELP's earlier recordings. In total there were 16 LPs and 6 singles reissued through Daffodil plus one 45 on Strawberry (Rod Stewart's Little Miss Understood).What sets Daffodil apart from many of the subsequent labels that issued Immediate catalog was their quality control, top-notch vinyl, true stereo separation (like the originals) as well as masters that came directly from Andrew Oldham's personal archives.
