Hello! This is a listing for a copy of the extremely rare 1931 10" single Be Ready When He Comes/ Jesus Is A Mighty Good Leader by Skip James on Paramount, catalogue number 13108. Unfortunately, this copy isn't playable. It has a big gash in the side that at least as of now has rendered it impossible to play through without constant repeats and jumps. Attempts have been made to fix this wound with various waxes, but nothing has been effective, and it is highly recommended that no further attempts be made without extreme expertise on the matter and that this be treated only like a filler copy that is not to be played. Past the most obvious damage, this record has plenty of scuffing and scratching and a shorter repaired crack, which is a shame, because this is one of maybe 4 known remaining copies of this title, making it amongst the rarest records out there. Skip James releases are infamously difficult to find on shellac, and very few overall have survived in any condition, making the opportunity to own any very uncommon since most are packed away in collections. I truly wish this copy was in better shape. The labels are pretty decent, though, so at least it would display fairly well. As for shipping... this item will be sandwiched tight between 10" cardboard squares which will be taped closed, surrounded in bubblewrap or something similar, and then placed in a box that will itself be placed in a bigger box that will also be full of a cushioning substance, and then the whole package will be shipped Priority with signature required and with full insurance, all on my dime. I know how to pack shellac and do not take the task lightly, especially with items like this. I hope this record goes to a good home and is treasured as it should be.
