149. VINTAGE 78 RPM RECORD ~ BRUNSWICK 3856 IN ORIGINAL BRUNSWICK PAPER SLEEVE


ARTIST/GROUP:  Six Jumping Jacks (Harry Reser, director)

 

TITLE(S):  "Oh! Look At That Baby" / "Get 'Em In A Rumble Seat"

 

DESCRIPTION:  Jazz orchestra with vocals (Tom Stacks, both sides)


GRADE:  Very Good Plus (V+)

 

CONDITION NOTES:  Record labels are bright and readable with light visible scuffs, small scratches, are slightly dusty, small dark area at top of "Rumble" label (old sticker residue), and wear around spindle hole on "Baby".  


Record surfaces are glossy with light visible scuffs, some small scratches, item is dusty (could use a gentle cleaning), and very light gray areas (mostly on first and last parts of disc).  This item plays with excellent fidelity, lots of volume, some light tics at beginning of "Baby", and light surface noise.


The Brunswick sleeve has many light creases, small folds, some small tears along top opening, scotch tape repair in middle of bottom seam, and this item has browned due to age.


***No worries about packing…I pack for shipment like the pros - record secured between cardboard squares in large box with plenty of padding.

 GRADING IS CONSERVATIVE USING THE VJM RECORD GRADING SYSTEM:


N (78). As new and unplayed (there are virtually no 78s that can categorically be claimed to be unplayed).


N- (78). Nearly Mint, but has been played. No visible signs of wear or damage.

 

E+ (78). Plays like new, with very, very few signs of handling, such as tiny scuffs from being slipped in and out of jackets.

 

E  (78). Still very shiny, near new looking, with no visible signs of wear, but a few inaudible scuffs and scratches.

 

E- (78). Still shiny but without the luster of a new record, a few light scratches and scuffs.

 

V+ (78).  An average condition 78 in which scuffs and general use has dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise not overly pronounced.

 

V (78). Moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive.

 

V- (78). Quite playable still, but distortion and heavy graying in loud passages. Music remains loud in most passages. Surface noise and scratches well below music level.

 

G+ (78). Grey throughout but still serviceable. Music begins to sound muffled. Heavy scratches.

 

G (78). Quite seriously worn and scratched, but music level is still higher than surface noise.
