Description
Shirley Collins and Davy Graham
Folk Roots, New Routes LP - Unbelievably Rare Folk record from 1965, the only one on Ebay or indeed the internet selling market. The label is the sought after red Decca with the additional quality of the 'unboxed' Decca writting (see pictured). This is a UK edition from 1965 as stated. To add to the rarity value this is a Mono pressing, adding to the very exclusive nature of this record. Furthermore the record is clearly a first press, Matrix numbers both reading ARL-6551-1A. This really is a piece of folk history that has to be seen to be believed. I have graded this record at Excellent Plus, for a much more detailed exploration of the condition see below.
Cat Number: Mono LK 4652
Matrix Number: ARL-6551-1A (both sides);
Condition (outersleeve): The front of the sleeve is in Near Mint condition, the gloss on the front has a number of light creases (see picutre) round the edges and one in the centre. The picture is very clear and glossy and edges and spine show very little wear whatsoever. Additionally the Mono LK 4652 is clearly visible and clear. The back is in Excellent condition, there is a bit of general discolouration (see picture) but there are no rips or tears or really significant marks. The mono LK 4652 in the top right corner is clearly visible also. Generally the cover is in Excellent Plus condition as an average between the front and back.
Condition (inner sleeve); The original inner sleeve (pictured - with hole in the middle to see label) is in Mint condition, there is no real creases or marks.
Condition (Vinyl); The grading of the actual Vinyl is Excellent plus, here is the breakdown. Side 1 has 5/6 very faint hairline scratches, it must be stressed these are not surface scratches and are faint, only properly visible under a bright light. There are also a few much small hairline scratches. Side 2 has 3 very faint hairline scratches, and one or two much small faint hairline scratches. Again these are not surface scratches. In general both sides are clean and clear and do not have any more significant wear that as described. Once again the overall grading of the actual Vinyl is Excellent Plus.
Condition (label); Both sides of the label are in Nr Mint condition, there are some very light scratches on either side but these are not visible except under a very bright light, there is no significant spindle wear and the red background and silver writting, with the Decca unboxed in full view (see picture), is quite stunning.
Overall Condition; The overall grading of this record based on an averaging of the most important aspect of the Record is Excellent Plus.
This is very very Rare record in Excellent Plus condition - don't miss out on your chance to grap yourself a piece of Folk History!
