Shirley Collins was an immensely important figure in Britain’s early 60s folk revival, and the golden age of British folk-rock in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. She is one of British folk’s most golden-throated vocalists, and one of its most eclectic; handling traditional fare, Renaissance music, and folk rock. Following 2 successful albums of medieval folk music in the late sixties, Shirley turned up in bona fide folk-rock groups after she had married Ashley Hutchings, a key early member of both Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span. And it was with Hutchings that she sang in a couple of the mid-’70s most traditionally oriented British folk-rock outfits, most notably the Albion Country Band. Without a doubt 'No Roses' is Shirley Collins at her very best, featuring a truly impressive backing band in The Albion Country Band. It mixes her usual blend of folk-rock and sultry vocals and will be a welcome addition to the collections for folksters everywhere!
Pressed in 71 on Pegasus Lable PEG-7 in gatefold sleeve, sleeve has very minimal corner wear record has some very light paper scratches overall grading (ex+/ex+) (ex/ex-)
