Description
Sherry
I sided 1960’s RCA CUSTOM ACETATE LP
Unreleased 1960’s Broadway show soundtrack
Now I am unsure if these are the 1967 cast members.I think Dolores Gray sang the title track but I am unsure as to whether it is her singing here. This goes for the other songs. There never was an original cast show so this is a very odd and unique item. As it says at the top-it’s one sided. The tracks run as follows
Sherry
Maybe it’s time for me
Putty in your hands
Au Revoir
Imagine That
How can you kiss those good times
This was obviously cut at the time and has Chappell Music written on the label. There is small stain from the removal of a label.
There is a small sound clip of each track and as you will hear there some background sound and there are some marks.
A bit of History
Sherry! is a musical with a book and lyrics by James Lipton, music by Laurence Rosenthal and based on the George S. Kaufman-Moss Hart play The Man Who Came to Dinner.
After fourteen previews, the Broadway production opened on March 28, 1967 at the Alvin Theatre, where it ran for 72 performances. The cast included Clive Revill as Whiteside, Elizabeth Allen as Maggie, Jon Cypher as Bert, Dolores Gray as Lorraine, Eddie Lawrence as Banjo, Byron Webster as Beverly, and Cliff Hall as Dr. Bradley.
In 1967, following a short run on Broadway, and poor reviews, the score of this musical was apparently lost - being rediscovered at the Library of Congress more than thirty years later. A studio recording based on the rediscovered score was released in 2004.
