Record Collector Magazine Gradings are used as the standard in this listing.Here is a FIRST PRESSING of this iconic album by Deep Purple. It's on the Yellow and Black Parlophone label. The labels are NEAR MINT, with just some very light spindle marks. See the photos above! Unusually there is "No sold in the UK text" on the labels. This makes it the rarest of first pressings? This is a British pressing, with The Gramophone text on the rim of the label.The matrix number on side 1 is YEX 689-1The matrix number on side 2 is YEX 690-1The mother and stamper on side one is O and 1The mother and stamper on side two is G and 1.You cannot get earlier than G and 1!!! The vinyl is rated as varying between very good and excellent. Quieter passages have some crackle but nothing to worry about. This one really rocks! I've enjoyed playing it on my high end Project turntable with audiophile components. The vinyl visually has just a few minor hairlines but again nothing to worry about.The inner bag is in EXCELLENT condition for its age with no splits! It is the original inner with PURPLE writing on! Fantastic!OK, the downside is the sleeve. Please see photos. The front cover is good to very good with some minor laminate creasing. The photo of the band looks good. The back of the sleeve has some felt tip on it from an overenthusiastic young fan. The word Shades has some orange felt tip pen around the outside of the letters. The D of Deep Purple has been coloured in purple and the name of the band member, John Lord has also had the purple touch! The tri flip back sleeve shows some wear at the bottom with a small split. Good luck with your bidding. I will be very sad to see this record go. It deserves to be treasured. An important and classic slice of British rock at its best.
