Description

In the late '60's and early '70's The Screaming Gypsy Bandits, based in the Bloomington/Indianapolis area, were the coolest of the cool, the lead dogs of the pack. They were the top adventuresome local rock band, stretching the boundaries when nobody wanted to recognize boundaries anyway. When the Dead, Jefferson Airplane, the Doors and others were passing through Bloomington at Indiana University, one of the coolest college campuses in the nation at the time, it was a given that Caroline Peyton, Mark Bingham, Mark Gray and other folks in that group of people would find their way on stage, either as the opening act or just hanging, making their presence known.

Now, thirty plus years or so later, it's a little difficult to communicate what it all meant then, just how it was. Suffice it to say this side pretty much defines the feeling of the time.

This side is pretty tough to come by. The disc itself is mint No scratches, no scuffs, no spindle wear, no spindle scratches, nothing. The cover is intact but the upper left corner has a split going down the spine about one inch and across the top about 1 1/2 inch. It also suffered some water damage on the lower portion where it is wrinkled and somewhat stained. This should be evident in the picture.

Screaming Gypsy Bandits, In The Eye, Bar-B-Que Records BRBQ 3, Stereo

Personnel is unlisted but I know there is Caroline Peyton and Mark Bingham of course. After that it would just be conjecture. A point of interest, the record is dedicated to Charles Bukowski.
