Rare Label Error
Lovely LP, and a genuine first press, bought by me in 1973 and rarely played, so the vinyl is in lovely condition, and looks excellent, with no marks on the vinyl and no spindle rubs. It plays superbly.
This should have the matrices SHM 813 on both labels, to match the stampers, on the run-offs, but on Side One it has SHM 840, and is for ''Top of the Pops - Volume 34'', which is where Hallmark Records made their name. So, the label has credits for 1973, and yet Side One has the right credits for 1968. Ont the cover, Dave Cousins writes in 1973, when this LP was released, and of course it was done so because Sandy Denny was with
Fairport Convention, and they were at their highest point in their careers. My guess is, because the miss-label had 1973, and it matched the date of the write-up, someone made this mistake. It is, as far as I know, very unique.
The outer sleeve is all intact, and without damage, and just shelf aging. Just stored with my other records properly, and upright on shelving.
