Hello,
Here’s another in-demand Blue Note LP: Sam Rivers’ Fuchsia Swing Song, BN Stereo ST-84184, with tenorman Rivers, pianist Jaki Byard, bassist Ron Carter and a very young Tony Williams on drums. A fascinating mix of hard swing and the avant garde.
The record has been cleaned on a VPI Record cleaner and is graded after being played and visually inspected as follows:
Vinyl:
Clean, good sheen, not played much. No marks except 2 slight, visible but unfeelable, scratches to side 2.
Side 1: NM. No noise at all. Very clean play.
Side 2: VG++. Some very light ticks and pops at the end of Tk. 1 and very light crackle and more light pops beginning to middle of Tk. 2, from above noted scratch. In my opinion, they do not affect play, but a buyer who wants a perfect record probably should pass.
Jacket:
VG++: Front has a bit of ring and shelf wear, and the back has a small stain at the bottom, but otherwise in good shape: no tears, color still strong, spine A-1. Nice.
Labels: Both sides have labels that are bright and clean without marks. On the record, the printed address is New York USA, there is no deep groove nor Plastylite ‘p’ or ‘ear’ in dead wax, and there is Rudy Van Gelder’s stamped name ‘Van Gelder’ plus ‘Stereo’. The rear label address is West 61st St., New York 23. Most likely a 2nd pressing.
