Vocalist Sylvia Striplin joined Aquarian Dream for the jazz-funk/disco group's second album and stayed with them through their early-'80s breakup. Shortly after that, she became associated with Roy Ayers and his Uno Melodic label and the produced rare-groove disco classics...

"Give me your Love/Turn me away" was recorded for Uno Melodic in 1980. The 12" single did well and Sylvia began recording her very rare LP: "Sylvia Striplin- Give me your Love" in 1981 with the 2 1980 tracks. "Searchin'" is the only 12" single off the 1981 recording session, as it was never released, except on a handful of promotional copies. It is harder to find than the LP.

So "disco version" or "disco mix" means primarily that the record is longer than the version released for radio play, though it may also mean that the cut is specifically mixed for a "hotter," brighter sound. Disco DJs are much more concerned with the technical quality of the records they play than their radio counterparts, rejecting otherwise danceable singles because of the deadness of their mix or their loss of distinction at high volumes. This passion for quality has had its effect: Both Atlantic and Scepter have put selected single cuts on 12-inch discs at 33 1/3 for best reproduction at top volume. The twelve inch record allowed more bass and made records suitable for night club play.
