A point of interest is that, at Stanley Kubrick's insistence, the opening of this recording is the one that was used in the film "2001". Decca would only agree to its use if it was uncredited, which is why a different recording (Karl Bohm/Berlin PO) appears on the MGM soundtrack album. When the film became an instant classic, Decca lost out on a lot of money and a huge amount of publicity because of what turned out to be a very bad decision. It's an interesting story.
