You’re looking at an original UK copy of ‘Read About Seymour/Ripped & Torn/Black Velvet, the debut 45 by the Swell Maps, released in 1977 on Rather Records (GEAR 1). The vinyl is in excellent condition and sounds great. The picture sleeve (it’s the original thin paper one!) is just about in very good condition with a few signs of wear and tear around the edges.PLEASE NOTE: this is a copy of the original and very Rather Records version, not the slightly later Rough Trade version.
If you’re checking-out this item, you’ll probably already know that this is a much sought after record and that it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find a copy in decent condition. You’ll also probably know that it’s a brilliantly shambolic slice of authentic DIY punk, featuring three songs that are the quintessential sound of young, spikey Britain in 1977.
