LABEL:       (none...although made for Phantom Records) .
CATALOGUE #:     (none)  .
DATE:   about Feb. 1980 .
PRESSED IN:    AUSTRALIA .

This is the first ever piece of vinyl/acetate cut from the first finished master-tape by the Surfside 6, the legendary Sydney punk-pop/surf-beat 7-piece, featuring the likes of Greg Masuak (brother of Chris from Radio Birdman, and later video director of film clips for the likes of Kylie, Roxette...), Toby Cresswell (later editor of Rolling Stone mag, Juice mag, author of several rock books), and other local 'scene' luminaries.

No big deal, but I was the owner of the label back then, and have had this stashed away ever since the day Dare (my business partner) and I proudly took the master tape into EMI's 'Studios 301' where Don Bartley (famous Oz cutting engineer...he's mastered everyone from the Beatles down to...well, this!) whacked the tape into 'the machine' and produced this first piece of acetate we'd ever been involved in (this was a few days before we cut The Passengers single in the same studio). We were mighty chuffed. Don gave it to me to take home, and proceeded to do a second cut, which was the one used to eventually cut the single from. It's still in the same paper sleeve it came in at the time.

So, bear in mind that this is a DIFFERENT CUT to that used for the eventual 45. Same recording, different cut. It is also, the ONLY ONE in existence...and the only Surfside 6 item as a 12" single, effectively.

CONDITION:

COVER: ( - ) ...plain white die-cut paper sleeve...

VINYL: (EX) ...I probably played this 3 or 4 times back then...and never again till about 10 minutes ago, now.
