Well, you know it's a special day when a new Southern Lord record lands on your lap! The God...the Don...Stephen O'Malley's co-run label with Greg Anderson has been continuously pushing the boundaries of electronic music since its inception over a decade ago and it most certainly isn't showing any signs of stopping. For this latest collaborative effort, the two founders appear under their Sunn O moniker together with Norway's Ulver trio for three slices of total sonic warping. "Let There Be Light" reminds us of Miles Davis' more daring concoctions on "Bitches Brew", while "Western Horn" is a militant drone excursion filled with gloomy field recordings and wailing, syncopated instruments. "Eternal Return" is on a more ethnic tip, bringing together elements of ancient rituals wrapped in a devastating cloak of electronic doom. You can't overlook this, really...
