Probably the rarest album package I have ever handled and reputed to be one of British Rock music's holy grail albums. YOU'LL NOT FIND THIS ONE IN ANY RARE RECORD GUIDE OR ON DISCOGS. I can't find record of another copy ever having come onto the market. It consists of the legendary 1988 UNRELEASED 9 track WHITE LABEL DEMO ALBUM by 1980s Manchester Rock band STRUTZ complete with two posters for their 1989 Heaton Park gig, concert programme, and original card envelope FULLY SIGNED by the band's line-up at that time. What is more the album and full demo package is near mint pristine, looking like it has been probably unplayed up until the one test play I have carried out on the highest quality equipment with only the very wispiest of removal lines under a strong light. Apparently this album was produced as a very limited press of 500 but nearly all were destroyed in a fire soon after. How many remain, if any at all, is anybody's guess and how many as a signed promo pack ?? A few years ago there was a very limited run of 500 CD re-issue of Strutz tracks all sold out almost immediately and it is long OOP. Whether this original vinyl example was a band member's personal copy I don't know. Matrix number are as follows - Side A SMR 120688 A1 stampers PR-P Side B SMR 120688 B1 stampers PR-P. The record is housed in its original transparent liner sleeve - obviously a cover was never produced but given the fact that there are two copies of the poster perhaps an outer sleeve could be made using aspects of one of the posters. Probably the only example that will come to light in this format ?? Below is some info regarding the band etc. I found on the web :-
Hailing from Manchester, STRUTZ, put together by Graeme Wood and Alan Harter, their first incarnation cut two singles with ex-SAM THUNDER vocalist Tex Alexander, before settling on the definitive line-up of Noel Fraser, Alan Harter, Dave Hellen, Geoff Potts and both Wood and Davies. It was this line-up that recorded the near legendary white label album, an album that was limited to just 500 copies and made all the rarer due to most of them being destroyed in a fire. An album of almost mythical proportions, it contained a brand of UK AOR that was very much the flavour of the time. Whilst the like of Dare and FM were tearing it up supporting the likes of EUROPE and BON JOVI, STRUTZ were slogging it out in the trenches with little hope of ever gaining a foothold due to immeasurable incompetence from their management. It was a shame as the album contained more than it's fair share of quality AOR tunes. They may have been more Poundland than Harrods, but you can't dismiss the quality of songs such as "Heartache" or "All Right Mama", both delivered with gusto by the infallible Noel Fraser. Whilst N. Fraser later turned up in A.O.K., guitarist Graeme Wood sadly succumbed to cancer earlier in the year.
