I SAW STRAY several times during my formative years and they always kicked my fat b*tt. Guitarist Derek 'Del' Bronham was one of the circuits finest guitar showmen, right up there with the best of the bunch - including Tony McPhee, Johnny Winter and Robin Trower - providing the band with a brilliant focal point.

'Mudanzas' was the groups fourth album and a lot was riding on its success. The previous album 'Saturday Morning Pictures' had placed them in the UK charts for the very first time and all eyes, and ears, were tuned to this one with great expectations. Sadly it didn't set the world on fire but it was a brave, perhaps too ambitious, work for their meat and potatoes fan base. Having developed a reputation as one of the UK's most dependable hard rock acts it was met with mixed emotions due to its somewhat off kilter arrangements including the use of strings and, occasional horns.

Others, however, greated it with open arms as it showcased a band refusing to be pidgen holed and one leary of walking on already familiar ground. An album that grows stronger with every play - the way old rock albums used to be.

This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.

Vinyl: Nice clean condition. No spindle marks but light signs of use. On close inspection one side displays some very faint wispy marks on the surface - does not effect play. Grades as Ex

Cover: Again, only light signs of use. Issued in a beautifully illustrated gatefold cover. Sharp corners, no dings, no bends, faint ring wear to rear panel, no split seams and no creases.
