Description
Another in a series of "who the heck were they?" bands - here's a RARE but KILLER heavy acid psych single by a band called Stonehenge - doesn't seem to be any of the many other known bands with the same name, because this one's on the obscure Dymanite label (that's Dymanite, NOT Dynamite). "The Inferno" b/w "King of the Golden Hall". Right from the titles, you know what you're getting here - heavy guitar psych rock with a midieval doomy feel, like vintage Wishbone Ash or Valhalla, or even psych Black Sabbath - this is the music of the apocalypse here. "King of the Golden Hall" is a BEAST, with a great heavy acid guitar riff, wailing vocals, EARTH-SHATTERING bass guitar and more - who knows, this sounds like it may have actually been recorded inside the druid stones during a full moon. The flip, "Inferno", is even better - with its apocalyptic doomy guitar riff, cutting and slicing guitar solo, and unkind lyrics like "On a dark dreary road...welcome to the Land of Death, I've been waiting here for thee". Dudes, seriously, lay off the Ultima games for a while. There you have it, then - two sides of BONE BREAKING, EARTH SWALLOWING, APOCALYPTIC PSYCH ROCK on vinyl - from an unknown, uncomped, uncompromising band. No date given on here, but to me, it sounds late 60's/early 70's. An obscure one for sure. Vinyl plays VG+ with light satanic crackle, some minor label tears on one side, probably ripped off the turntable by Attilla the Hun himself.
