Description

THE BEATLES

ULTIMATE VINYL EXPERIENCE!!!

 ATTENTION  BEATLES  FANS:

Up for auction at is the COMPLETE "3rd state" STEREO edition of one of the most sought- after rock collectables of all-time:

The Beatles' controversial 1966 American album:

YESTERDAY AND TODAY

(Capitol Records ST - 2556 STEREO - black / colorband label)

***THIS IS A RARE EAST COAST PRESSING (RIAA #2 on rear cover). East Coast pressings used different cardboard stock for the jackets and different ink tones than West Coast pressings.****

 Tracks include:

Drive My Car   /  I'm Only Sleeping  /  Nowhere Man  /  Dr. Robert  /  Yesterday  /  Act Naturally  /  And Your Bird Can Sing  /  We Can Work It Out   /  Day Tripper  /  What Goes On  /  If I Needed Someone

This is an ultra-rare "3rd state" STEREO pressing. The white trunk cover was PROFESSIONALLY PEELED in 2007 at Rock and Roll Shop Collectibles by the previous owner, revealing the original- and highly controversial - "butcher photo" underneath.

Unlike many "3rd state" covers which have severe nicks and tears from the old glue from the pasteover, this copy  boasts a 100% COMPLETELY INTACT "butcher image."

Colors are vibrant throughout with NO TOUCH UP present!

In addition, the spine is intact with the title and matrix number fully legible. The back cover print is solid with some light aging and typical shelfwear on the otherwise WHITE background.

The original "FULL DIMENSIONAL STEREO" inner sleeve is also included along with a copy of the 1966 recall letter from Capitol records, explaining the substitute "trunk" cover.

IN ADDITION to the actual cover, you will also recieve the ORIGINAL "TRUNK" PASTEOVER. This is the actual slick that Capitol pasted over this particular copy in 1966. Although slightly wrinkled from peeling, the slick is also intact with no tears or staining!

The STEREO Vinyl is "VG" with some hairline scratches. Vinyl has been play-tested - no skips but some occasional surface noise.

***A NOTARIZED CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY IS INCLUDED WITH THE PACKAGE TO TESTIFY TO THE RARITY OF THIS EXCLUSIVE BEATLES "BUTCHER" PACKAGE. *****

BUTCHER COVERS DO NOT FOLLOW THE GENERAL RULE THAT A BEATLES MONO ALBUM ON CAPITOL IS MORE VALUABLE THAN ITS STEREO EQUIVALENT.

THE INITIAL 750,000 RUN OF THIS ALBUM WAS PRODUCED AT A RATIO OF APPROXIMATELY 5:1 IN FAVOR OF MONO OVER STEREO. IN THE SUMMER OF 1966, MONO STILL DOMINATED STEREO IN THE TEEN MARKET.

A STEREO BUTCHER IS AT LEAST FIVE TIMES SCARCER THAN A MONO BUTCHER.

In addition, many stereo covers do not peel as well as mono covers due to the different glue that was used used to paste the more acceptable trunk slick over the controversial butcher image.

Considering the above limitations, the outcome of the peel on this copy is quite exceptional...and highly collectible !!!

The current market / collector's value of this rare STEREO butcher was estimated at $2,750 by Rock & Roll Shop Collectibles.

The package, offered here "AS - IS" in this listing will only increase in value over the years.

The cover and slick are both suitable for framing and will make a notable addition to any vinyl or rock memorabilia collection!

ANY QUESTIONS? PLEASE INQUIRE FOR ADDITIONAL PHOTOS....

Don't miss your chance to own this "holy grail" of vinyl and rare piece of Beatles history!!!
