Description

Stefan Askenase ( 10 July 1896 - 18 October 1985 ) was a Polish-born Belgian pianist, studied with Theodor Pollak at the Music School in Lemberg, then with Emil von Sauer at the Vienna Academy, debut 1919 in this town and subsequently toured throughout the world. Thaught also at the Rotterdam Conservatory from 1937-1949, in Brussel from 1954-1961. His pupils included Martha Argerich, André Tchaikowsky, John McKay and Mitsuko Uchida.
