There's a point in the notes where coconuts get drilled open on a beach, Iggy Pop murmuring about Neu, the phrase "pastoral psychedelicism" hanging in the air like something half-remembered. It's a strange image to pin a record to, but Station Model Violence lean into it, their beginnings tied up in post-lockdown drift between Melbourne and Sydney, old bands stalling out, new ones forming out of necessity. 'Learn To Hate' arrives first, needling guitar and forward motion, before 'Cliffs' and 'Immolation' snap past in quick, agitated bursts. 'Heat' stretches wider, eight minutes of repetition that slowly thickens, the groove turning in on itself. Elsewhere, 'Crepe Throne' and 'Falling Down' pull things back into shorter forms, the whole thing carrying a dense, slightly frayed charge that holds.
