Vinyl / Play-Test Condition: VG+ overall
All four sides were fully play tested.
Side 1 – EX: Extremely clean playback. Only light crackle noticeable during the very quietest portions of the soundtrack; otherwise exceptionally crisp and clear.
Side 2 – EX: Excellent playback throughout. Only light crackle in the quietest passages, with the fuller orchestral sections exceptionally clean. “Cantina Band” played particularly cleanly with no audible crackle or skips.
Side 3 – VG-: A prominent repetitive pop is present near the beginning of the side and is especially noticeable during the quiet opening material. The issue clears as the first track progresses and playback thereafter becomes substantially cleaner. This localized issue is the reason for the lower Side 3 grade.
Side 4 – VG+: Light surface crackle is audible through some of the very quiet material, along with occasional more noticeable scratch-related noise. As the score swells, surface noise largely disappears and the fuller orchestral passages are exceptionally clean. The closing reprise of the main theme plays very cleanly.
Taken as a whole, this is a very enjoyable playing copy, with Sides 1 and 2 particularly impressive. Individual side grades are provided rather than relying solely on a single overall grade.
Gatefold Cover: VG
Original 1977 gatefold jacket. Displays general age-related surface/ring rubbing, scuffing and edge/corner wear, particularly visible against the black artwork. Gatefold artwork remains attractive and presents well. Please see photos for exact condition.
Original Liner Notes / Orchestra Insert: Included
Original two-sided 2T-541 liner-notes insert is present and in clean condition. It contains information on the film and score, John Williams’ notes on the themes, track commentary, and London Symphony Orchestra personnel.
Poster is NOT included.
The original issue was distributed in configurations that included the large fold-out poster, so its absence is specifically disclosed here.
A nice original 1977 copy for either a Star Wars collector or someone looking for a strong-playing early pressing of John Williams’ classic score. The TML mastering and exceptionally clean playback on much of the set are particular highlights.
Shipping: Record will be shipped in a new Mylar outer sleeve, protected with rigid cardboard and carefully packed with appropriate cushioning materials — no shipping bags — to help ensure it arrives in the condition as shown.
