STAINED GLASS – “Crazy Horse Roads” (1968) Capitol-154 original pressing EX/VG+ (cover/record)
The first of two late 1960s albums released by the band. This is a really interesting and scarce psych-rock album by this band that hailed from San Jose, California. It sported a controversial cover photo that appears to show the three hanging from nooses in a tree. The band was led by Jim McPherson on bass and keys (who wrote many of the songs), along with Bob Rominger on guitar and Dennis Carriasco on drums. There is a mix of vibes here with great tracks like the effects and fuzz-laden “Light Down Below” and the haunting “Doomsday” with killer tremeloed and reverbed wailing guitar. The group is often pointed to as one of the most underrated bands of the era. As none of their material achieved commercial success, it is all very scarce today. I’ve seen this compared to Moby Grape, HMS Bounty, and Buffalo Springfield. Great stuff.
This is an original copy. The cover is beautiful with only the slightest cover wear and two tiny rips in the back slick at the top seam – maybe a half inch and not barely noticeable. The vinyl is super clean and glossy, and I would grade it higher – but there is a small pressing bubble between B4/B5 on side two that clicks/pop three times at the intro of B5 – it doesn’t skip at all on my Bang & Oulefson RX2 turntable.Without it, the vinyl would be EX. Conservative grading: EX/VG+ (cover/record).

I package all LPs securely in record mailers and remove the vinyl from the covers to prevent seam splits during mailing. I do not just stick your record in a priority mailer box from the post office or between two thin pieces of cardboard with no additional packaging materials like so many others!!!
