EXTREMELY RARE IN THIS CONDITION-1939 recording by Willem Mengelberg conducting the Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam with such vocalists as Karl Erb, Willem Ravelli, Jo Vincent, Ilona Durigo, Louis van Tulder, Herman Schey, the Amsterdam Toonkunstchoir and the Boys' Choir "Zanglust."  It was a custom to perform this piece on Palm Sunday in Amsterdam, with Mengelberg conducting this orchestra from 1895 until he passed away in 1951, but with the coming of WWII, this was the last time this would be performed until the war was over.  Fortunately, Columbia Records preserved this last pre-war performance and released it in celebration of the 5th anniversary of the invention of the LP, when it could be presented with fewer interruptions than with 12-inch 78 rpm records.

This set is in astounding condition for 62 years of age, with the box itself having just one tear on one corner and just minor wear on the cover and back.  The records are in gorgeous condition (they are the Masterworks "Deep Groove" blue label vintage), with some of them bearing the "1A" of a first pressing.  The enclosed booklet is also in beautiful condition.

If an album is still sealed when we offer it here on ebay, we let it remain sealed in order for the buyer to have the opportunity to open it when they receive it. Only records that are still sealed get a Mint (M) grading for both the record and the jacket; if the shrink wrap is open or gone, yet the record is in an unopened poly sleeve, the record will get an M and the jacket will get an NM, or Near Mint.
