In 2009, legendary film director Jim Jarmusch and his producer and musician friend Carter Logan teamed up to embark on the soundtrack for Jarmusch's then-latest movie, The Limits Of Control. What ensued was not only a soundtrack, but an entirely new artist project which morphed out of the film's inception - SQURL. The band is now known for playing with everything from analogue synths to broken radios and pulling inspiration from painters, writers, and birds on the street. While the duo has since gone on to soundtrack many of Jarmusch's greatest modern films, Silver Haze is their latest non-soundtrack LP. Imagine Codeine meets Whitehouse: here, cold spoken word reflections on a life in decay blend with ultra-doomy, grit-blinded guitar-drum plods. It's easily reminiscent of Jarmusch's vampiric reflection on eternal suffering, 'Only Lovers Left Alive'.
