SPIRIT 1st S/T Ultra-RARE Mono Ode Records LP ( Ode Records Z12 44003) Cover is in Good Condition with some light-water-marks,yet dry and no serious stains...
Record is in VG++ to NM Cond. and no scratches...Minimum-Bid starts at $29.99 or Buy It Now for $100 Randy California played guitar with Jimi Hendrix before Jimi went to England to make it with Chas Chandler of the Animals...Randy's parents wouldn't let him go to England with Jimi James & The Blue Flames...Ed Cassidy,the drummer on this and all Spirit LP's was Randy's step-father..
Randy's real name is Randy Wolfe and Jimi was the one to name him Randy California...Some of the guitar-solos on this lp ,namely "Uncle Jack" the B) Side of "Mechanical World" Hit-Single..
(Number 1 in 1968 on WQAM in Miami) has been heard by Jimi on some live tapes,the same exact huitar-solo,note for note) Randy was also a huge fan of Jimi's and told me in SF at the Band Shell in 1995 or so at a tribute-show in Golden Gate Park for Jerry Garcia and Dino Valenti,that he was going to dedicate the set to Jimi...Nick Gravenites,Harvey Mandel.with Drummer:Gregg Errico,Big Brother & The Holding Company with James Gurley on Lead Guitar and many others...
Sadly Randy died in 1997 whilst body-surfing with his son Quinn in Molokai,his body has never been recovered,yet his incredible Guitar-Playing,Songwriting and music with SPIRIT LIVES ON Eternally....
Led Zeppelin stole the opening riff to "Stairway To Heaven" from this album's "Taurus" written for Randy's girlfriend at the time..
