SPACEMEN 3 - DREAMWEAPON - NEW DOUBLE LP
A An Evening Of Contemporary Sitar Music Part 1 22:00 B An Evening Of Contemporary Sitar Music Part 2 22:05 C1 Ecstasy Live Intro Theme 8:15 C2 Ecstacy In Slow Motion 9:26 D Spacemen Jam 15:42
This is for the extended galaxie traveler only, with the title track taken from a live performance at Waterman’s Arts Centre,in Brentford , London back on the 19th ofAugust 1988, featuring Pete Kember, Jason Pierce, Will Caruther, and special guest Steve Evans. Though the liner notes sight a fifth member Pat Fish [the Jazz Butcher] who did not play, with ‘joint rolling’ credits. The other track, on the vinyl release, “Ecstasy In Slow Motion” is a Pete Kember [Sonic Boom] performance from 1987. However, “Spacemen Jam” which shows up here, and on several reissues, features Pete Kember and an unknown, uncredited second guitarist, sounding to my ears like Jason Pierce. Connections can be drawn here, as Jason is credited in the sleeve notes on the Sympathy For The Record Industry reissue. There is also stunning text by from the grandfather of drone, La Monte Young, who is said to have inspired the 45 minute title track.
Lush, hypnotic, shifting, mind-bending, structurally atmospheric, filled with washes of washes that develop a layered thickness that will roll on in your ears long after the record is over.
