Description

This is a near mint copy of the Soul Brothers 'Carib Soul' LP that was released in the 1960's on the Coxsone Records label (Cat # : CSL 8002 ). This sleeve is the old style original 60s type that has a clear coating on the front, unlike a lot of the Studio One re-issues. I purchased this copy directly for Mr. Dodd in the mid 90s. "The Soul Brothers were essentially the post-Skatalites Studio 1 band who played on a ton of recordings, until 1967 when personnel shifted a bit more and they became The Soul Vendors. Notable Skatalites that formed The Soul Brothers include Roland Alphonso, Jackie Mittoo, and Dizzy Moore. These cats could PLAY! This LP contains some absolute classic Ska and Jamaican Soul. Some of the tunes are originals by members of The Soul Bros., and some of the tunes are covers of American standards from the time, like Little Anthony and The Imperials' "Hurt So Bad". There is an alternate version of Eastern Standard Time on here that is much slower and more soulful than the original, but still in the Ska style. The Soul on here is as good as any Booker T & The MG's instrumentals, and the Ska is obviously among the best ever recorded. This LP really showcases the talents and versatility of Jamaican musicians in the 1960's.CSL 8002 The Soul Brothers - Carib Soul Tracks: Monday Monday / Hurt So Bad / Orange Blossom / What Now My Love / Moment Of Mood / Searching For Weapons / Eastern Standard Time / Hot Tacos / Canadian Sunset / Ringo / I Love You For A While / Chicken & Booze Produced by C.S. Dodd 1967"
