SONNY TERRY & LIGHTNIN' HOPKINS & BROWNIE McGHEE "SONNY IS KING" Van Gelder mono lp on Prestige PR 1059 US issue (1964) VG+/G. 

 I would grade this lp VG+. It plays great, but has some minimal noise that was not there when the record was new. It may also have visual marks, consistent with a well cared for, but appreciated, record that’s had a moderate amount of play. This LP still plays great and has lots of shine and is beautiful overall. THIS IS A VINTAGE COPY (pre-2000). ALL LPS COME TO YOU FRESHLY CLEANED AND PLAY READY. FOR MAXIMUM  RESULTS RE-CLEAN EACH SIDE  AFTER INITIAL PLAY (SOME OF MY LPS HAVE NOT BEEN PLAYED FOR 40 YRS. OR MORE.) I bought this new back in, I would guess, 1969. At that time lps in the Prestige or Bluesville catalog were $1.98 or doubles were $3.98. Little Madison Wi. had a chain record store (Discount Records) that was run by Hippie Folk and Blues musicians that at that time stocked as good of Blues & Jazz sections as any chain record store that I have ever been in! This is my favorite Sonny Terry lp mostly due to the A side that has Hopkins on guitar. I loved Brownie and Sonny together but the A side here was just one of those sessions where Hopkins and Terry were obviously having a great time together and the music is very inspired. I played this a lot but because I didn't have much money I took care of my records. This has some surface noise but I think is still a comfortable VG+ listening experience. Recorded by Mr. Van Gelder (the VAN GELDER is only in the A side dead groove on this). Sonny Terry was a totally unique artist and nobody was ever quite able to duplicate his harp sound. This is a 2nd press copy.

 The Jacket: In black magic marker, my initials back upper left, an x back lower left. A very functional jacket. I would rate the cover G overall with  a little of everything including a cut-out hole and a bad spine and top seam tape job. All lps ship with protective poly protector so it will still safely house your lp.    (I only be citing things not visible in pictures)(I do not remove stickers unless they come off easily. I leave that for the buyer).
