Description
This is original STEREO pressing of Way Out West by Sonny Rollins. this was released on Stereo Records label in association with Contemporary Records. Labels are near mint with deep groove. Vinyl looks near mint but there is some noise at beginning of one side so I down grade the vinyl to nm/vg++. Cover is near mint minus, no splits or significant wear, looks great. One of the great jazz records of all time, sought after by audiophiles in stereo for a more spatial and realistic soundstage courtesy of legendary engineer Roy DuNann.
The timeless Way out West established Sonny Rollins as jazz's top tenor saxophonist (at least until John Coltrane surpassed him the following year). Joined by bassist Ray Brown and drummer Shelly Manne, Rollins is heard at one of his peaks on such pieces as "I'm an Old Cowhand (From the Rio Grande)," his own "Way out West," "There Is No Greater Love," and "Come, Gone" (a fast stomp based on "After You've Gone"). The William Claxton photo ofRollins wearing Western gear (and holding his tenor) in the desert is also a classic. Please check my other listings for original jazz lps.
