Up for bids is an original self-titled Mono Jazz LP by Sonny Rollins called "Vol. 2" on Blue Note Records. BLP 1558. Released in 1957.
This is the TRUE ORIGINAL 1957 PRESSING with addresses "43 West 63rd St., New York 23" on the back of cover, and "47 WEST 63rd . NYC" on both labels!
Deep Groove pressing!
No small circled "R" (Registered Trademark Symbol) on labels.
Edges of record are raised.
Matrix (or trail-off) numbers have the stamped "RVG" then the "ear" then the hand-etched "BN-LP-1558-A-2" and lastly "9 M" for Side 1, and the stamped "RVG" with "-1" etched next to it, then the "ear" and lastly the hand-etched "BN-LP-1558-B-2" for Side 2.
Front of cover is laminated.
Comes with a plain white inner sleeve.
NOTE:
The grades I use are Mint (rarely used grade), Near Mint, VG+++ (rarely used grade), VG++, VG+, VG, VG Minus, Good+, Good, Fair and Poor.
Cover is in VG Minus to VG condition. Some wear and marking on front and back. Back cover also has some writing on the top-right. Spine has a one long piece of red tape completely covering it. Bottom corner at opening has very small split starting. Bottom-center has a 3 3/4" split. Still a nice, strong and sturdy cover!
I would rate the record’s condition as a STRONG VG+. Vinyl record is nice and heavy. Minor wear on both sides and some minor marks that don't greatly affect play. Couple of deep scratches that do not last long. Sounds great on my player!
Makes a great gift for any Sonny Rollins or Be-Bop record fan!
