SONNY ROLLINS “Sonny Rollins” RVG, FR, P, DG Blue Note BLP 1542 Mono Vinyl
This is the 1957 first pressing, “RVG” etched, Deep Groove, “P” pressing of SONNY ROLLINS’ “Sonny Rollins (Vol. 1)” on the "767 Lexington Ave” labels of Blue Note BLP 1542. Musicians include Sonny Rollins, Donald Byrd, Max Roach, Wynton Kelly, Gene Ramey.
FLAT RIM VINYL plays with very light to medium surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with occasional pops and ticks, some loud, some repeating. But ensemble sections are clear, dynamic and strong with clean transients and full tone. No distortion. Vinyl has OK gloss, and many hairline marks, 5 tops feelable. The Deep Groove “767 Lexington Ave” labels are clean, some spindle wear. See photos.
COVER is in good shape. Corners worn. Top and bottom seam taped end to end. Spine shows cracking and almost entirely split. Taped in middle of spine. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS., 47 West 63rd St., New York 23” shows stain, wear. clean. Please see photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC CLEANER.
