This is an original MONO pressing , NOT a remaster or reissue.

Cover: EX Nice clean, shiny and stiff cover. No seam splits. All four corners good. Very minor almost imperceptible ring wear on front. Very small ding (very slight bend) on top left corner.

Disc: EX+

Nice, shiny black record with a very few minor scuffs. Couple of small clicks heard but this record plays beautifully.

THIS IS A STUNNING PIECE OF JAZZ HISTORY ON VINYL.

Sonny Rollins joined the Clifford Brown–Max Roach quintet in 1955. The following year,he had begun his contract with Prestige Records, which released some of his best-known albums. This album was recorded on March 22, 1956 at Rudy Van Gelder's studio in New Jersey and subsequently released in 1956 on Prestige Records in the US (on Esquire in the UK the following year). On this album Rollins plays with that quintet. The album was the last full recording including pianist Richie Powell and trumpeter Clifford Brown, as both died in a car accident three months later and after Brown's death that year Rollins worked mainly as a leader.
